Is your child a technical tinkerer, a mechanical mastermind, an aspiring actor, an improvisational innovator, a scientific savant, or a prolific playwright? Perhaps they want to do it all!
There are still a few spots open for this year’s Destination Imagination Teams! We have room for four more 2nd-5th graders, and two more TK-1st graders on our Early Learning Team.
Destination Imagination (an offshoot of Odyssey of the Mind) is a team-based creative problem-solving program that develops and showcases a wide range of STEAM skills. This program is kid-powered – each team must imagine and construct all solutions on their own, without parental interference. Yearly Challenges culminate with the teams presenting their solution as a performance at a Regional Tournament, with the opportunity to advance to State and Global Tournaments.
After an amazing first year, where one of our teams earned a spot to compete at the Global Finals, we’re looking for additional team members, as well as crucial adult volunteers. It’s a lot of fun, and if you join in too, you’ll have a front-row seat to your children’s accomplishments!
The 2nd-5th grade teams meet on Wednesdays at 8:45 a.m., starting October 15. Early Learning Team meeting time is TBD.
If this sounds like a creative journey that your child (and maybe you!) would like to embark upon, please fill out this form or contact Catherine Schmidt at cschmidt@californiacreativity.org with any questions.
