United Against Hate Week is a reminder that we all share the responsibility of standing together for inclusion, kindness, and belonging. It is a national week-long event. We would love your support in making it an impactful experience for you and your child!

- Monday, Oct. 20 – Speak Kind Words Day! Words have the power to inspire or discourage — let’s practice kindness in what we say.
- Tuesday, Oct. 21 – Chalk Day! Spread cheer and positivity by chalking kind words around the yard at lunch.
- Wednesday, Oct. 22 – Wear Orange Day! Wear orange to show unity and build commUNITY through kindness! ***Roosevelt RevUP at 10:10 Big Yard!
- Thursday, Oct. 23 – Mix It Up Day! Move out of your comfort zone and connect with someone new. SMMUSD Board of Education Meeting @ 5:30, Two Roosevelt students will present their PTA Reflections ‘I Belong’ Poems
- Friday, Oct. 24 – School Spirit Day! Wear your class shirts or school colors to celebrate unity and Roosevelt pride!

UNITE AGAINST HATE WEEK IN OUR DISTRICT AND AROUND SANTA MONICA
In 2023, the SMMUSD Board of Education passed a resolution recognizing United Against Hate Week, encouraging activities that foster belonging, embrace diversity, and reinforce anti-bullying.
The City of Santa Monica started United Against Hate Week early on Tuesday, October 14, at the Santa Monica City Council meeting with a Council Proclamation and Poetry Reading. They have partnered with Santa Monica Council of PTAs (SMMPTA), the Santa Monica Public Library (SMPL), Downtown Santa Monica (DTSM), and Bahala to provide engaging events all week.
Sunday, October 19 to Saturday, October 25 — Santa Monica Public Library has displays and curated Reading Lists: Booklist for kids & Booklist for adults.
Sunday, October 19, from 2:00 to 4:15 p.m. at the Promenade — First Aid Training with the Fire Department, Safety Tips with the Police Department, SMMPTA Chalk Art, and a Special Surprise.
Thursday, October 23, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. — Bystander Intervention in Public Spaces Training
Friday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Coffee & Connections with Bahala.
