Ditch your cars and choose a greener means of transportation this Wednesday, May 6, and Friday, May 8, for Bike it! Walk it! Bus it!
We’re doing double the days, so we need double the support. Volunteers are needed at every gate to cheer on our little Earth-saving heroes and tally how they traverse the trail to school. The school with the highest single-day participation percentage of students walking, biking, scootering, skateboarding, or taking the bus to school will be crowned the winner and will take home the highly coveted Golden Sneaker trophy!

If a trophy and saving the planet isn’t incentive enough, the winning school will be rewarded with an ice cream party for the whole school, funded by the district.
On late start Wednesday, Steve Rice is coordinating a group commute! To join the ride, please meet up at Goose Egg Park (7th street & Palisades Avenue) at 8:50 a.m. for a little play time together, followed by a green journey to school, going west on Palisades Avenue, then right on 4th street, east on Marguerita, then south on 9th street to the Roosevelt gates to be counted.
It’s fun, it’s spirited, it’s us, and it’s our community.
Schools all over Santa Monica will be participating in the week of May 4 – 8, so please be extra mindful if you’re on the road.
Remember, Roosevelt is participating on Wednesday and Friday!
Make sure to keep everyone’s noggin safe and wear your helmets.
