Ditch your cars and choose a greener means of transportation on Wednesday, October 8, for Bike it! Walk it! Bus it!
Volunteers are needed at every gate to cheer on our little Earth-saving heroes and tally how they traverse the trail to school. Bring your little one to help volunteer and watch their joy as they distribute stickers and stamps to their classmates!
The school with the highest single-day participation percentage of students walking, biking, scootering, skateboarding, or taking the bus to school will be crowned the winner and will take home the highly coveted Golden Sneaker trophy!

If a trophy and saving the planet isn’t incentive enough, the winning school will be rewarded with an ice cream party for the whole school funded by the district.
Join Steve Rice and his family on Wednesday for a fun and spirited community commute from Goose Egg Park! This growing and green Roosevelt tradition will meet up at Goose Egg Park (7th Street & Palisades Avenue) at 8:50 a.m. for a little play time together, followed by a people-powered journey to school going west on Palisades Avenue, right on 4th Street, east on Marguerita, and then south on 9th Street to the Roosevelt gates to be counted.
Schools all over Santa Monica will be participating the week of October 5 – 9, so please be extra mindful if you’re on the road. On Wednesday, breathe in the fresh air as you enjoy the ride, and make sure to keep everyone’s noggin safe and wear your helmets.
