This is your last chance to sign up for the Spelling Bee!
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, October 28, at 7:30 a.m. in Room 38. We know it’s early, but many kids have after-school activities, and Wednesday late-start is tricky due to space restrictions.
At our first meeting, basic rules will be explained, and a study list of words will be distributed. Based on attendance, the kids will be divided into groups, and parents will be emailed the group their child is assigned to. Each child will only return ONCE MORE for testing, UNLESS they make it to the school finals! So, it’s not a huge commitment.
The winner of the Roosevelt final round will then either go on to a district bee (depending on whether other SMMUSD schools sign up) or directly to the LA County Bee. The winner of LA County will proceed to the national finals in Washington, DC.
It’s all very exciting, and it was a great success last year. The bee is strictly voluntary and open only to 4th- and 5th-graders. To enter your child, fill out the Google form.
