Destination Imagination – Participants and Volunteers Needed!

Is your child a technical tinkerer, a mechanical mastermind, an aspiring actor, or a prolific playwright? Perhaps they want to do it all!

Destination Imagination is a team-based creative problem solving program that develops and showcases a wide range of STEAM skills. This program is kid powered – each team must imagine and construct all solutions on their own, without parent interference. Yearly Challenges culminate with the teams presenting their solution as a performance at a Regional Tournament, with the opportunity to advance to State and Global Tournaments.

This year’s Challenges and themes are:
TECHNICAL – Win it Big (Game Show Effects)
ENGINEERING – Above and Beyond (Expanding and Holding Weight)
SCIENTIFIC – Unforgettable (Memory)
FINE ARTS – Becoming Super (Superheroes and Supervillains)
IMPROV – Casting Shadows (Opposites, Tropes, and a Shadow Screen)
SERVICE LEARNING – Give and Take (Resolving Conflicts)
RISING STARS (Non-Competitive) – Helping Hands (Community Helpers)

After an amazing first year, where one of our teams earned a spot to compete at the Global Finals, we’re looking for additional team members, as well as crucial parent (or teacher!) volunteers. It’s a lot of fun, and you’ll have a front row seat to your children’s accomplishments!

If this sounds like a creative journey that your child (and maybe you!) would like to embark upon, you can hear about Destination Imagination at the September 4th PTA meeting, or contact Catherine Schmidt (cschmidt@californiacreativity.org).
